The Long Bay Youth Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Charles Jones Evans, presents its Spring Concert on Wednesday, April 30th at 7:30 in the MBHS Music & Arts Center Auditorium. The program will feature the winners of the annual LBYS Concerto Competition: pianist Jeff Gao, performing Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto (1st Movement), and bassist Andrew Henderson, performing the Bass Concerto No. 2 by Austrian Carl Dittersdorf.
The LBYS continues the international theme with a variety of symphonic pieces, including Finlandia by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius; Two Dances from the Czech nationalist opera The Bartered Bride by Bedrich Smetana; and highlights from the hit musical/movie Wicked by Stephen Schwartz .
In addition, select smaller chamber music ensembles from within the orchestra will be highlighted.
Tickets are $10 for admission; free for students!
